IB Diploma Programme
is a private school. Commencing with nursery levels, it provides a unique blend of rigorous academic standards.
As an International Baccalaureate certified high school, Colégio Planalto offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme to all of its students.
Colégio Planalto has been an IB world school since March 1994. The International Baccalauretae is recognised worldwide as one of the most prestigious University preparatory courses offered.
All students in Grades 11 and 12 (1st and 2nd Years) take courses designed by the IB Diploma Programme.
Students are full diploma candidates.
All students who successfully complete the 2nd Year receive a bilingual diploma.
Students in Grade 10 meet an appropriate Preliminary Course pre-requisite that enables them to pursue the IB Diploma Programme.
In addition to the IB Diploma Programme courses and core requirements, students must also enroll in Physical Education, Religion and Philosophy 10 (Preliminary Year).
1st and 2nd Years IB Diploma Programme students take six courses (one subject from each of the groups 1 – 6 listed below).
In addition to studying six courses, each student must complete the three core requirements of this programme. These include: The Theory of Knowledge course, an Extended Essay and participation in CAS (Creativity, Action, Service).
