Presentation
Colégio Planalto is an initiative of parents and teachers committed to the integral education of students. Sharing the ideas of Colégios Fomento, it seeks for each student a personal accompaniment that is the mainstay of a free and responsible personality.
It was recognized by the Ministry of Education with the Operating Authorization and successive amendments registered in Alvará nº 2296.
Thus, in addition to demanding academic preparation, Planalto proposes a Student Orientation and Training Program based on character education, valuing aspects such as order, generosity, a taste for a job well done, compassion or joy.
Planalto intends to educate people: and this learning process, more than in a classroom, is acquired in an environment of respect and friendship which can be found in the School. It is this environment that we intend to show you in these pages.
HISTORY - 1978 -2018 | 40 YEARS
Colégio Planalto began its activities on October 6, 1978 with about 80 students from 1st to 6th year.
The College has as its main entity the Cooperativa Fomento de Centros de Ensino, created in 1978 by a group of parents with the purpose of providing families with a comprehensive and complete education, and based on a close collaboration of families with the educational center.
Fomento, which manages four schools - Planalto and Mira Rio, in Lisbon, Cedros and Horizonte, in Porto - proposed to launch in Portugal the personalized education style, idealized and promoted by the pedagogue and Professor at the Complutense University of Madrid, Victor Garcia Hoz, a pioneer in several pedagogical areas, many of them now incorporated into the Portuguese educational system.
In October 1983, Planalto moved its facilities from Bairro do Restelo to the current ones in Telheiras.
In 1994, Planalto joined the International Baccalaureate Organization.
In September 1996 a new building was inaugurated, where Kindergarten and the cafeteria and bar are located, the central services and the administrative services of Fomento, as well as the Salão Nobre-Main Hall (for conferences and other similar activities) and the Chapel.
In September 2008, the Nursery hall was built and inaugurated, next to the Kindergarten building.
