English Day
23-02-2022
During the week the children learnt about the country’s green and majestic landscape , its tricolour flag as well as national symbols like the shamrock and the harp. They also watched traditional dances and heard a story about a folklore fairy creature , a little man in green clothes.
At the school entrance, there was a leprechaun painted by the children, showing the path to follow under the rainbow, marked with shamrocks. At the end of it, there stood a huge pot of gold.
In that imaginary forest, fairies could dance and wait shoemakers to craft beautiful shoes for them .
The whole Planalto Infantil Team worked enthusiastically to surprise the children.
Accordingly, the Ballet teacher talked about the two types of Irish dance shoes , played some musics and danced ,showing several steps. The English teachers performed a story adapted from the book “ The Leprechaun who lost his rainbow “by Sean Callahan and Nancy Cote.
Planalto school and Usborne publisher held an English Book Fair on the 10th and 11th of February.
On the playground a rainbow game and a leprechaun puzzle spread the children’s laughter and fun throughout the school, making this a very happy day.
